About Us

The Thunderbird Community Sports Foundation, a non-profit foundation, believes that the youth in our community benefit physically, mentally and academically from playing sports. The foundation also believes that no child should be excluded from playing sports due to a lack of financial resources.

The opportunity to create the Foundation stemmed from the Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Club move to Kent. As a result, the Foundation wishes to focus the majority of our support in our new community of South King County, and the South Puget Sound region.

The Thunderbird Community Sports Foundation has partnered with the Seattle Thunderbirds Hockey Club to support and encourage youth participation in organized sports activities in our community, with an emphasis on youth minor ice hockey, by raising funds to be awarded to deserving amateur and youth sports organizations to further their efforts by giving all kids a chance to play. The Foundation will primarily raise funds by operating a "50/50" drawing and Jersey raffle at all Seattle Thunderbirds home games at ShoWare Center in Kent. However, as the Foundation grows, we look forward to engaging our community in other fund raising efforts to help as many athletes as possible.

Although the focus of the Foundation will be on youth hockey, and will primarily center on our community, the Foundation wishes to help as many amateur athletes succeed as possible, and therefore encourages athletes from all sports, and all communities to apply for consideration for grants.
